Good afternoon,
The CLE links are below. If you would bear with me, I’d like to take a moment to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. What started as an idea grew into a movement to share and promote the CLE content of law schools, bar associations, and legal vendors.
None of this would be possible without the ongoing support of readers like you. It’s word of mouth referrals that keeps this newsletter growing. We’re now 4,700+ members strong in our Facebook Group and by the end of July, we’re expected to cross 4,000 members for this newsletter.
The content we share seems to be engaging as well, with an average email open rate of 50% which was surprising because I used to think people stop looking at CLE once they hit their annual hours. At least 50 percent of you are lifelong learners - good for you!
Thanks again to the CLE hosts that make this information free, for those of you who attend, and for everyone who works to make the Texas legal community stronger through educational opportunities.
Sincerely,
Abdul Farukhi

UH law presents: Regulation of Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal Under U.S. Law
The 6th Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reflects the scientific consensus that meeting the temperature objectives of the Paris Agreement requires both aggressive decarbonization of the global economy and very large amounts of carbon dioxide removal (CDR). Given the ocean's yeoman service in naturally sequestering carbon dioxide to date, there's been increasing focus in recent years as to whether marine carbon dioxide (mCDR) approaches, such as ocean alkalinity enhancement, seaward farming and sinking or ocean iron fertilization might help us to achieve CDR goals. However, there remain many imposing questions about how these approaches, all of which pose both risks and benefits, should be governed under both international and domestic law. This presentation will focus on the emerging regulatory framework for regulating mCDR options under U.S. law, as well as discussing interstices and the way forward.
