From Proposal to Practice: Analyzing the FTC’s Final Noncompete Rule
The Federal Trade Commission’s January 5, 2023, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to Ban Noncompete Clauses unleashed a torrent of reactions from practitioners, academia, and others, both positive and negative. Considering some of the roughly 26,000 comment letters received from interested parties, the FTC voted to release its final noncompete rule on April 23, 2024, including detailed guidance and explanation of the considerations underlying the Commission’s decision making.
This webinar, intended for attorneys and other professionals who regularly advise on noncompetition clauses, will highlight some of the significant differences between the proposed and final rules; analyze arguments plaintiffs are making challenging the new rulemaking; review alternate employer information restrictive covenants; and provide guidance and suggested best practices for corporate practitioners going forward.

Human Trafficking CLE
Lone Star Legal Aid will join Elijah Rising and Children at Risk for an educational CLE event, including a bus tour generously sponsored by Houston Young Lawyers Association and an anonymous donor on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. This discussion and tour aim to help expose the realities of domestic sex trafficking, labor trafficking, and commercial sexual exploitation in Houston.
Attorneys will get a first-hand look at where major trafficking incidents may be involved. The selection process for stops on the tour involved extensive research, which will be discussed during the tour.
Awareness Director of Elijah Rising, Dawn Gibler, Senior Staff Attorney of Children at Risk Caroline Roberts, Staff Attorney for Lone Star Legal Aid’s Justice of Human Trafficking Survivors, Davina Ugochukwu, and Supervising Attorney for Lone Star Legal Aid’s Pro Bono Office, Jessie Campbell, will participate in the presentation. The one-hour presentation will be followed by a 1-1.5 hour bus tour, hosted by Elijah’s Rising’s Dawn Gibler.
